Portrait or Personal Image - Rebecca Pariser

I'm not ready to be labeled in a box. I’m still learning about what photography means and who I am as a photographer. My work is a way for me to play with different genres and experiment to see what feels right and comes naturally. This latest project was a step out of my comfort zone and into the studio. Rather than just capturing, I created. This was the first time I felt vulnerable being both in front and behind the camera.

I’m interested in people. I like watching them and I create internal stories about who they are, where they come from and what they are doing. I’m afraid to ask them, so I only allow myself to get as close as a camera lens. This way I’m never disappointed when they don’t turn out the way I hoped.

Photography to me is about taking those images I see everyday in the world around me and making them tangible.
